Vertical Lathe

Vertical lathes are available in single column and double column. The single-column lathe has a small diameter, generally not exceeding 1600mm; the double-column vertical lathe has a large diameter, and the largest has exceeded 2500mm.

Vertical lathe: single column; double column

Structure: base; workbench; pentagonal knife holder; vertical knife holder; beam; column; side knife holder

Vertical lathes are used to machine large and heavy-duty parts with large radial dimensions and relatively small axial dimensions and complex shapes, such as various disc, wheel and housing parts.

The main feature of the vertical lathe in the structural layout is that the main shaft is vertically arranged, and a circular table with a large diameter is horizontally arranged for clamping the workpiece, so that the clamping and alignment of the cumbersome workpiece is convenient. In addition, since the gravity of the workpiece and the table is borne by the bed rail or the thrust bearing, the load on the column and the spindle bearing is greatly reduced, so that the machining accuracy of the lathe can be ensured for a long period of time. The precision of the machined workpiece can reach IT7, and the surface roughness value can reach Ra2.5μm. Another feature of the vertical lathe structure is that not only the side turret 7 is mounted on the column 6, but also the vertical turret 4 is mounted on the beam 5, and the vertical turret of the small and medium vertical lathe usually has five corners. A star tool holder 3 on which several sets of tools can be clamped. The two tool holders can be cut separately or simultaneously, and the work efficiency is high.

The workbench 2 of the vertical lathe is mounted on the base 1, and the workpiece is clamped on the workbench and moved by the workbench. The feed motion is achieved by the vertical tool holder 4 and the side tool holder 7. The side tool holder can be moved vertically on the guide rail of the column 6 and can be fed laterally along the guide rail of the tool holder slide. The slide holder's slide can also be tilted at an angle to machine a variety of conical surfaces. The beam 5 can be adjusted along the column rail according to the height of the workpiece.
